Living in a rural area of Oregon has a lot of perks...no traffic, lots of retirees with vintage clothing and room for chickens.
The rain has finally let up and our chicken coop has been blessed with three new beginnings. The mama hen is so proud and little did she know that she was part of our experiment to see if we could put fertile eggs under her and have her hatch them (even though they were not her eggs). It worked for the first time in 5 years of having chickens we finally have ones that are native to our own chicken coop and not the grange or school's incubator. She is a great mom and we get to listen to the sweet little peeping chicks. My bet is at least two are going to be roosters. We hope not for our own sanity and well being , but we won't really know for a few more months...until then we will just enjoy the cuteness.
